Increased Internal Combustion Engine Efficiency with Optimized Valve Timings in Extended Stroke Operation

نویسندگان

چکیده

Spark-ignited internal combustion engines are known to exhibit a decreased brake efficiency in part-load operation. Similarly cylinder deactivation, the x-stroke operation presented this paper is an adjustable form of skip-cycle It effective measure increase engine, which has be equipped with variable valve train enable feature. This presents optimization procedure for exhaust timings applicable any valid stroke number greater than four. In first part, gas spring operation, during all exchange valves closed, explained, as well how it affects indicated and blow-by mass flow. second simulation model timings, parameterized measurement data obtained on engine test, used find optimal timings. We show that 12-stroke load 5 Nm, 34.3% achieved. Preloading residual prevents oil suction thus helps reduce hydrocarbon emissions. Measurements variations 4-, 8-, operations by applying remains high center range significantly lower torque outputs.

Experimental Investigation of Thermal Balance and Valve Cover Heat Transfer in a Small Internal Combustion Engine

Heat transfer in internal combustion engines is one of the most significant topics. Heat transfer may take place through thermal conduction and thermal convection in spark ignition engines. In this study, valve cover heat transfer and thermal balance of an air-cooled engine are investigated experimentally. The thermal balance analysis is a useful method to determine energy distribution and effi...

Engine Modeling of an Internal Combustion Engine

In the modern world, one of the largest concerns is the ever depleting supply of oil. The automotive industry is especially impacted. In recent years the price of gasoline has fluctuated substantially and the price of crude oil has reached record highs. The high price of gasoline coupled with the uncertainty of its availability and future price have put a high priority on fuel economy of an eng...

LES of spray and combustion in an internal combustion engine

With the ever rising need for better fuel efficiency and lower emissions, the development of better engine technology is essential. Different strategies are being considered to increase engine efficiency, such as direct injection or downsizing. Certain regimes are clearly identified as optimal for certain range of loads. For gasoline engines, the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) c...

Application of Extended Observer with Gain Scheduling Control to Internal Combustion Engine Model

In this paper, an extended observer was investigated and then implemented for generating approximate state feedback for an Internal Combustion (IC) engine. IC engines are inherently highly nonlinear in nature, therefore, present a problem for system modeling and observer design. A state-dependent gain scheduling control was used to improve state estimation. An extended observer was implemented ...

Gas Flow into Rotary Valve Intake and Exhaust Mechanism in Internal Combustion Engine

Simple design of a rotary valve system is capable of controlling intake and exhaust gases, which will eliminate the need of known complex mechanisms. The cost of material and production, maintenance, and noise level of the system can be further reduced. The new mechanism enables the elimination of the overlapping of valves work that reduces gas leakage. This paper examines theoretically the gas...
